Alice Springs Aquatic Centre – Indoor & Outdoor Pool, NT
Funded by the Federal and Northern Territory Governments, along with the Alice Springs Town Council, the $14.1 million redevelopment of Alice Springs’ outdoor swimming centre included a new indoor eight lane pool and a 25 meter competition pool.
Tompkins MDA Architects intention was to emphasize the sculptural elements of the local landscape, whilst being functional and offering loads of fun at the same time. Thanks to the broad range of Agrob Buchtal tiles from Ceramic Solutions, it was possible to articulate functional areas using an array of colourful, non-slip ceramic tiles. In addition to the high product quality offered by Ceramic Solutions, the company also provided extensive support and advisory services. This meant recommending the use of HT tiles in the foyer, eating areas and rest rooms to eliminate unwelcome odors and making it easier to clean to reduce long term maintenance costs.
